Mark Alan McLean, a beloved brother, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully from heart failure on September 2, 2023, in Salem, Oregon. Born on September 26, 1959, in McMinnville, Oregon, to Ronald Alan McLean and Dixie Lynn (Colvin). Mark was the oldest child born and his siblings, Tina and Ronald Jr. soon followed.
Raised in a military family, Mark's early life was characterized by frequent moves and an ever-changing landscape. Growing up, Mark was a good but shy child. He completed his high school education in Tacoma, Washington, which laid a solid foundation for his future endeavors.
Mark's professional journey was as diverse as his personal one. The last 30 years he lived in Salem, Oregon and he spent 24 of those years at EZ Rental, where he was known for his diligence and expertise as a flagger. His commitment to his work was evident in his willingness to guide newcomers and his thorough understanding of proper signage. His dedication was so profound that many contractors requested him specifically for their projects. Mark's significant other, Debra Olson, had the privilege of working alongside him for 12 years, further strengthening their bond. They had met years before through mutual friends.
In his spare time, Mark was an avid gamer and movie enthusiast, with a particular fondness for comedy, western, and action genres. His knack for fixing electronics was well-known among his circle, and Debra often relied on him to repair her TV or computer. Mark's love for his two dogs, Sophie and Sabrina, was unparalleled. In his final days, Sophie's visit to the hospital brought him immense comfort.
Mark was more than just a hard worker; he was a handyman, a problem solver, and a dependable companion.
Mark's passing leaves a void that can never be filled. He is survived by his parents Ronald Alan McLean, Sr. (wife’s name); mother, Dixie Lynn McLean; sister, Tina Williams; brother, Ronald McLean, Sr.; partner, Debra Olson.
