Marjorie Iona Leticia O’ Neill-Woodworker, beloved mother, devout Christian, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on April 1, 1943, in Dallas, Oregon, Marjorie was the daughter of Leo and Gartha (Ficken) Gookin.
Marjorie's education began at Highland Elementary and Parrish Middle School, culminating in her graduation from North Salem High School. Throughout her life, she exemplified dedication and perseverance, qualities that would define her personal and professional endeavors.
In marriage, Marjorie found both joy and challenge. She married Ed O' Neill, with whom she was blessed with children Chris, Patrick, Kathi, Michael, and Tim. Together, Ed and Marjorie held their pilots license and ran the Lebanon Airport. Flying was a large and wonderful part of her life. Despite later divorcing, Marjorie's commitment to family remained steadfast. She subsequently married Robert "Bob" Woodworker, with whom she shared a passion for exploring the open roads of Oregon on their trikes. As members of the Christian Motorcycle Association, Marjorie and Bob found camaraderie and purpose in participating in rallies and parades, creating cherished memories along the way.
Marjorie's love for motorcycles endured until the age of 74 when her battle with arthritis necessitated a change. Yet, her faith never wavered, and she remained a devoted member of the Salem First Nazarene Church, finding solace and strength in her Christian beliefs.
Marjorie also found enjoyment fishing, camping on the Oregon Coast, and loved to take a road trip to Mo’s in Lincoln City to enjoy a meal.
Professionally, Marjorie dedicated herself to public service, working for the State of Oregon Justice Department, DOT, and in the insurance sector. Her commitment to excellence and integrity earned her the respect of colleagues and peers alike.
Marjorie's life was not without loss, as she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ed O' Neill and Robert Woodworker, as well as her son, Tim, and brothers, Ray and Fred. However, her legacy lives on through her surviving children, Chris Lambert, Patrick O' Neill, Kathi O' Neill-Orme, and Michael O' Neill, who carry forward her spirit of resilience and love.
