Maria Rosa Chadwick

Salem, Oregon - Maria Rosa Gonzalez was born on February 19, 1933, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico to Jose and Maria Melendez Gonzalez. Maria grew up in Puerto Rico where she graduated high school. During high school she was very involved in theatre. After graduating she moved to New York to pursue acting.  During this time she worked as a waitress and eventually married. She had two daughters, Diane and Rose.   In the mid 1960s Maria and her two daughters moved to California.  It was at this time that Maria decided to pursue a new career in Cosmetology and became a Beautician; she loved helping others look their best.  As a single Mother she worked hard and selflessly to support her daughters.  In 1974 while working part time as a waitress, to help supplement her income, Maria met the love of her life, Vernon Chadwick.  They married in December of 1974 and began a new life together as a blended family.  In 1994, Maria and Vernon relocated to Oregon to help Vernon’s aging Father.  Vernon would proceed her in death on September 7, 2012. Maria enjoyed gardening, crafting, knitting, and crocheting.  She was a beautiful lady who was kind and put others before herself.  She enjoyed the company of everyone she met, and she loved her family deeply.  She never once complained about anything,  she would always say, “ God is good all the time, and all the time God is good”  She loved God very much.  She accepted Christ into her life over 50 years ago. She was always ready to share her faith with others, and to make sure her family knew and understood who Christ was and what he did for them by His death on the cross and His resurrection. Maria attended Mt View Wesleyan Church in Aumsville with her daughter Diane and family. On September 14, 2021, Maria went into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ, at the age of 88. Maria is survived by her children, Diane (Rex) Rannabargar, Rose (Joe) Sturla; Step Children, Vern Jr. (Gwen) Chadwick, Karen Chadwick, Christine (Bob) Johnson; Grandchildren, Jenevieve, Rebecca, David R., Emilia; Step Grandchildren, Andrea, Dylan, Robin, David J., Sarah, Shawna, Joshua; Great Grandchildren, Aiden, Kennedy, Noelle, Verah, Ozzie, Aubree, Levi, Kariss, and Charlee; Siblings, William Hernandez, and Melgaro Hernandez.
