Margaret "Peggy" Lahde, 89, of Lebanon, Oregon, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024. She was born on April 29, 1935, in New London, Connecticut.
Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bob Lahde, her Daughter Laure Riddle her granddaughter Amie Ogden, and her granddaughter-in-law Tiffany Hayward. She is survived by her children: Linnea and Jim Thomason of Oregon City, Oregon; Glenn and Julie Lahde of Manchester, Connecticut; and Dawn and James Clabo of Lebanon, Oregon. Peggy's legacy also includes 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She will also be missed by her beloved dogs, Bonnie and Libby.
Peggy earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Connecticut State College with a teaching credential for grades 1-8. She also honed her secretarial skills at Norwich Business College. Her career was marked by dedication and a diverse range of experiences. She served as the Office Manager for the Nevada County Builders Exchange, owned and directed Alpine Meadows Day School, and worked as a substitute teacher for multiple school districts, and a 2nd-grade teacher. In addition to her professional pursuits, Peggy was a constant support to her husband Bob, assisting with the secretarial duties of his electrical business.
A woman of many talents and interests, Peggy loved quilting and generously donated many of her creations to the Linus program and family members. She also enjoyed needlepoint and shared her beautiful work with loved ones. Peggy loved to garden, filling her yard with the vibrant colors of her beloved roses and a wide variety of other flowers. An avid reader throughout her life, Peggy found particular joy in her later years reading books aloud.
Peggy was deeply involved in her children's lives as they were growing up, serving as an assistant den mother, a Girl Scout leader, and an active member of the PTA. She was a constant source of support for her husband Bob in all his endeavors and club affiliations.
In her last couple of years, Peggy cherished the time spent with her great-granddaughters, creating special memories during their playdates and tea parties.
Peggy will be remembered for her kind heart, talented needle work, quilts and, her love of family.
While no service is scheduled at this time, the family suggests honoring Peggy with a donation to your local library to support the love of reading.
