Lucille M. Telfer of Turner, Oregon passed away on February 29, 2020 at the age of 81 from dementia, and a form of non-alcoholic, Cirrhosis of the liver.  She was born to Earl and Maxine (Inman) Sawyer on March 13, 1938 in Tyrone, Missouri.  She grew up in Houston, Missouri and graduated from Houston High School in 1956.  She met Raymond A. Telfer in Houston while he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  The two started dating and Lucille moved to Prineville, Oregon by way of the railroad train in 1957 after Raymond was discharged from the service.  She and Raymond were then married on March 17, 1957 at Prineville Christian Church in Prineville, Oregon.  The two moved to McKenzie Bridge, Oregon in 1965, and then to Blue River, Oregon in 1975.  She was a very active member of McKenzie Bridge Christian Church.  She was a Deaconess and a Sunday school teacher and loved helping in the nursery.  She also babysat for families in the church and in the community.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and craft projects.  She moved to Turner, Oregon in 2005 and was also an active member of Turner Christian Church.  She lived at Turner Retirement Homes and enjoyed helping with the Oregon Christian Convention and the Food Bank.  She spent her last few days at Bonaventure Senior Living, in Salem, Oregon with family and Hospice Care by her side. Lucille is survived by her husband of 62 years, Raymond A. Telfer of Turner, Oregon; her son, Clayton R. Telfer and his wife Tina M. Telfer of Cascade Locks, Oregon; her daughter, Kimberly L. (Telfer) Raine and her husband Tim Raine of Colleyville, Texas; two grandsons, Ricky Telfer of Waco, Texas and Tony Telfer or Cascade Locks, Oregon; great-granddaughter, Dakota Telfer of Waco, Texas; and brothers, Dale Sawyer of Cabool, Missouri and Calvin Sawyer of Kansas City, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Maxine Sawyer, Two brothers, James Dean and Hubert Sawyer, and her sister, Cleta Bowen. Arrangements are under the direction of Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, Oregon.  There will be a small gathering for viewing and visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.  At Lucille’s request, there will be no funeral service.  A Private Cremation will take place on Wednesday, and her inurnment will take place at a later date.
