Louis Alan "Lou" DuChene, a kind and friendly man who made a lasting impact on everyone he met, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 20, 2023, in Scio, Oregon. Born on October 5, 1959, in Mora, Minnesota, Lou was the loving son of Louis E. and Barbara M. (Johnson) DuChene, and the eldest of five children.
Lou's family moved to the Willamette Valley when he was just four and a half with his parents and two brothers, they would move from Mora Minnesota to the beautiful Willamette Valley where he attended Aumsville schools and later graduated from Cascade High School. After high school he continued his education at Linn Benton Community College and Chemeketa Community College, earning several certifications over the years. Most recently, Lou worked as a wastewater technician before his well-deserved retirement.
Family played a significant role in Lou's life, and in his youth, Lou married Tricia Behnke in Stayton, Oregon, and together they were blessed with two sons, Joshua and Jacob. They would later divorce, but Lou was fortunate enough to reconnect with his high school friend, Lori Mauch, and they spent the last several years together.
An avid outdoorsman, Lou's best days and his last day were spent enjoying the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were a significant part of his life, passions which he shared with his father and brothers. Lou's love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for helping others. Lou was always eager to help anyone who needed it.
His kindness and friendly nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and community.
In honor of Lou's life, a celebration will be held at a later date, where friends and family can come together to share stories and memories of this remarkable man.
