LOREN L. STROHMEYER Jan. 4, 1921 – Aug. 6, 2010 Stayton, Oregon Loren was born at Flagler, Colorado on the 4th of Jan. 1921. He passed away on Friday Aug. 6th at Salem. He was 89. The son of Dana and Lois Strohmeyer. Loren grew up in Colorado, then serving in the US Army during WWII as a Rifleman, spending much of the time behind enemy lines performing the job of forward observer locating the enemy and directing Big Gun fire. He received the Purple Heart and 6 combat medals, having served as a Corporal. Loren was married to Mary Jane “Janie” Goodwin on June 10, 1947 and they made their home in Albany before moving to Marion in 1948 and to Stayton in 1961. Janie preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 1996. Loren had worked as an electron beam welder for Teledyne Wah Chang in Albany for 18 years before retiring. He was an active member of the Calvary Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling in the motor home. He as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his daughter, Janet (Wayne) Kreger of Salem; son, George “Butch” Strohmeyer (Sue) of San Diego, CA; brothers, Ralph of Aumsville and Glenn of California; sister, Esther Greenwald of Hoonah, Alaska; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Private burial with military honors will be at Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton. Memorial Service will be held Fri. August 13th at 11:00 am at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Stayton, OR Contributions may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services.
