Lois was born on December 31, 1945 in Coos Bay, Oregon to Leslie and Bertille (Charpentier) Akerley. Lois grew up on the family dairy farm where her family would provide milk to Dairy Gold. She knew hard work from early on and learned how to drive the family tractor. She would help her dad in whatever he needed on the farm. She attended Siuslaw High School in Florence, Oregon and met her high school sweetheart and future husband Clyde Casto there. They married on November 12, 1962 in Florence, Oregon.Together, they started a family and had three children, Lori, Lezlie and Scott. They would live in Eugene, Salem, Pendleton, Hermiston, Crooked River Ranch, Aumsville and most recently Turner for the last two years. Lois loved children and found passion in helping them learn how to read. She worked at Turner Elementary and often volunteered for the SMART reading program. She loved helping her students and always enjoyed when she would see one later in life after they had grown up. Lois also loved growing vegetables and flowers in her garden, canning, sewing clothes and enjoying the outdoors with her family. She would take a large camping/hunting trip in the Wallowa Mountains where she would help cook at their camp. She also loved to try new recipes but was known for her cinnamon rolls. They were made perfect every single time!Lois also loved to feed birds and watch the hummingbirds eat out of the feeder. But most of all she loved spending time with her family. Lois passed away on August 27, 2020 in Turner, Oregon at age 74. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clyde E.
