Linda May Weatherly-Singleton

Linda May Weatherly-Singleton was born on November 28, 1945 in San Francisco, California to Raymond and Josephine Comisky. Linda lived an incredibly full life and accomplished much during her time her on earth. She grew up in California during her younger years. Her first car was a 1951 Chevy Bel Air Deluxe, she did the local poker race and was part of the American graffiti of her time. Linda became a single mother at age 16 and married Ken Singleton who was a member of the US Coast guard and started life with two boys Kennith Roy and Eric Glen. A lover of life and animals she started a small country farm in the small town of Tuolumne City, California where the local school kids would come to learn about the farm. Many colorful people and great friends were made that are the true legacy of Linda May. With a big family move to Oregon we started a cow ranch with 80 acres to farm and feed the cattle, eventually to raise dairy cows, chickens and geese, ducks and more. Again, Linda starts a new small farm on the old James A. Crockett - hide out and saw mill. She invited all kinds of artist types and nature seekers to help on the 80-acre farm. A magical time for Linda, 6 horses, ducks and geese pigs and dogs and a 1/2 acre garden to feed us all and with full moon celebrations and the best of company and music to boot. As it seemed Linda was always thinking about the next step, the next mission, the greatest adventure and her dream was born to move to Seattle and build a boat after being involved in the building of a large sailing ship by a community of people in Oregon. Linda built houses, barns and built a 44 ft. ferro cement sail boat in which she named it “Moxie”; A salty ship built for blue water sailing and all the sea could muster. "If in doubt, over build it!" The meaning for Moxie is a boxing term; to have moxie means to have a quick spirit and wit to match that force of character, determination, nerve is what it aches to stare life right in the eye and grin a bit. Although the boat was made of cement, it could out sail most boats her size and more. Linda is a master mariner and licensed captain; these were probably the occupations she was most proud of However, she held many positions in her lifetime. She held a black belt in karate, was an EMT surveyor, operated heavy equipment and was celestial navigator. She became a cook on the Alaskan railway and worked in one of Alaska's biggest gold dredging companies. She also is certified to scuba dive in deep water, where she dove with hammer head sharks and ship wrecks at 300 feet. She also enjoyed photography, horseback riding and even rebuilt the engine in the car with her 11-year-old son and preformed mechanic work on diesel and gas engines. Linda eventually even became a realtor and sold yachts and houses. She also was a CNA, ham radio operator and created some of the most beautiful gardens you would ever hope to see. Captain Linda Singleton, an incredible woman and the salt of the earth passed to the beyond. As we sit together and remember how we planned and all the preparing, and how we adventured all over this world. You have loved the best and left all the rest. We celebrate a Goddess among women and one of the greatest mermaids the seas have ever felt to swim their waters. An animal savor, child love builder of homes for animals and people alike, a lover of life. A believer of hope, her super power was that she could fall in love and rise from ashes to find reverence in the new day, in the warmth of the sun kissing her face, in a true love smile she Sailed Mexico and the sea so blue. you'll have to go far and wide to find a more noble and true friend. her experiences in this world are unmatched by most, yet if you are willing to give it your all, she would find a spot for you. Linda May Singleton is a warrior woman, captain of the moxie and my captain throughout this life.
