Lela Ilene Betker

tayton - Lela Ilene Betker was born on September 10, 1923, in Boulder, CO to Willett and Ethel Mae Glenn. She passed away peacefully on April 21, 2022, surrounded by her children. She spent her younger years in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Idaho before settling in Marion and Stayton. Lela married Walter Otto Betker and together they raised 5 children. Affectionately known as Grandma Lela not only to her 15 grandchildren but to several children she cared for in the Stayton area. Lela loved baking, specializing in sourdough cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and bread. She also loved to crochet, sing, and spend time with her family. There was nothing more special to her than to have all her children and grandchildren with her. Lela always had a hot cup of coffee and one of her tasty baked goods to share whether you were family, friend, or stranger. Those around her were drawn to her selflessness and generosity. She touched the lives of so many people in her 98 years. She is survived by her children, Shirley Schad, (David), Sharon Elmer, Don Betker (Denise), Cindy Wilson (Mick) and Ron Betker (Beth), 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, 1 great and one great great-grandchild on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband Walt, sisters Winnie Anderson and Martha Betker. Memorial services are 2:00 pm April 28, 2022, Weddle Funeral Chapel, 1777 N. 3rd Ave, Stayton, Oregon
