Lavon Alice (Long) Berdahl passed away peacefully December 29, 2024 in Albany, Oregon. Lavon was born in York, North Dakota on May 20,1934 to Lawrence and Agnes (Maske) Long. She was married to Gilbert A. Berdahl on July 5, 1953 In Rugby, North Dakota. They lived in Kief, Butte, Towner and then Rugby (all in North Dakota). While in Rugby they jointly owned and operated Gil’s Plumbing and Heating and Parkland Courts as well as managing farmland. In 1984, they became full time RVers traveling and working throughout the west and south and eventually moved to Albany, Oregon in 1989.

Lavon was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; family was everything to her. She loved baking for all of us; each visit to her home had something special to eat. Until macular degeneration severely impacted her eyesight she was an expert at crocheting and left many blankets, doilies and holiday decorations for us to be reminded of her. She and Gilly danced until they could no more. They loved to travel and spent many years in Yuma, AZ as snowbirds where they made many friends, especially karaoke friends. Most of all, Lavon loved to play cards, especially with family. Pinocle was her favorite but she also loved kid games with the grandchildren.

Lavon is survived by Gilbert, her husband of 71 years, Albany, OR, daughter Alice Bober (Pete) of Corvallis, OR, son Todd Berdahl of Corvallis, OR and son Tim Berdahl, Anchorage AK. In addition, she leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ross Berdahl, grandson Jade Dean Vollmer, each of her 3 siblings and numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Albany VFW – 1469 Timber Street SE.
