Laurie Ellen Andreas was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 22, 2022 after a 6 year battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Laurie was born to the late Ray and Marge Mortensen on October 19, 1953 in Silverton, Oregon. She grew up on the family farm in Hubbard with her two brothers and three sisters. Laurie grew up picking berries, playing the piano, sewing, and attending church on Sundays. After high school, she attended college to become a paralegal and was hired by Tom Churchill. He became her mentor and she devoted her 42 year career working for him and his firm until she retired in 2015. After retirement, she worked part-time for Blue Line Farms in the office doing paperwork and office management for the farm.
When Laurie was 14, she met the love of her life, Rod Andreas, and they were married on June 8, 1974. They were both blessed with a loving family starting with their two daughters, Katie, and Keri. When their daughters married, she gained two sons, Jonathan and Theron, who she loved as her own. Anyone that knew her, knew her grandchildren meant the world to her. She loved Lily (5), Clayton (8), Raymond (9), Faith (13), Devon (17) and Dallas (21) with all her heart.
Laurie was a woman of God, and her faith guided her throughout her life. She loved to play the piano and organ for church services, and did this for most of her life. She shared her mother’s love for the ocean and the sounds of the water. She truly valued her relationships with family and friends; especially the close bond she had with her daughters, sisters, Sally and Chris, and dear friend Nancy. She loved watching the sunsets, especially with her grandkids from her front porch. She was an incredible quilter and enjoyed making gifts for the people she loved. Laurie was incredibly giving and always put others before herself. She will forever be missed.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rod; her daughters and son-in-laws Katie and Jonathan Dettwyler and Keri and Theron Covey; grandkids Raymond, Faith, Devon and Dallas Dettwyler and Lily and Clayton Covey; sisters Christine Snodderly, Sally Cady, and Annie Pearson; brothers Andy and Mike Mortensen; 7 nieces, 8 nephews; and many friends and extended family, all who loved her dearly.
Services and reception will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on September 29th at 3 pm. A burial for immediate family will precede these services.
