Larry Newell Godfrey

Larry Newell Godfrey March 31, 1942 January 5, 2016 Salem, Oregon Larry was born in Emmett, Idaho to Matilda Patrina (Christenson) and Victor Newell Godfrey. Larry graduated from Central High School in Independence. Proud to be a Teamster, Larry worked for West Coast Grocery and retired after 30 years from WinCo Foods Distribution Center.  He was a volunteer with Marion County Fire District #1 for 13 years. Dad loved the outdoors; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping immensely. Larry was a lover and a fighter.  Important women throughout his life were Shari, Nancy, Cherryl, Wanda and Lola. He his preceded in death by his parents, daughter Angie, brothers Alma and Dean, and sister Joyce. Dad is survived by daughters, Robin (Tony) Fisher, Jennifer (Robert) Garcia, son, Timothy (Jennifer) Godfrey, brother, Raymond (Kay) Godfrey, sisters Joan Robertson and Connie Bahler, seven grandchildren, one great grandson, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service at Buena Vista Hilltop Cemetery will be on Saturday, January 23rd, 11am, followed by a potluck at Buena Vista Community Church. According to Larry’s wishes, his ashes will be spread at various fishing holes at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services.
