Larry Eldon Ambrosek

Larry Eldon Ambrosek April 8, 1941 – March 6, 2011 Stayton, Oregon Memorial service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, Stayton, Oregon on Sat. March 12th at 2:00 pm. Larry Eldon Ambrosek was born April 8, 1941 in Albany, Oregon, to Joe and Zelma (Piatt) Ambrosek.  Larry had 3 brothers, Everett, George and Gordon; and 2 sisters, Kathleen and Sharon.  All Larry’s siblings preceded him in death. After his parents’ deaths when Larry was just 6 years old, he went to live with his sister Kathleen and her family. Larry graduated from Lebanon High School in 1960.  He attended OIT (then called OTI) on a football scholarship earning an associates degree in auto mechanics.  At age 40 Larry returned to college, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Portland State University. Larry served in the US Army from 1/27/64 to 11/2/65, stationed in Texas and South Korea. Larry worked as a mechanic for 3 different shops, the longest with De Lon Oldsmobile/Honda.  As an accountant, Larry worked for APC Logging in Alaska; Northwest Human Services, and Oregon Revenue as a tax auditor until his retirement March, 2007.  After his retirement, Larry worked temporarily as a tax preparer for Davis Carter Katter and Barrett, a Salem CPA firm. Larry was a hard-working home owner doing most of the construction of his first home near Aumsville.  The home was on 5 acres that he maintained as well as raised beef cattle. Larry was also a generous man, donating to several charities.  He also donated his time by serving as treasurer for his church, volunteering for I-Serve in Stayton and numerous other opportunities to help his fellow man. Larry’s pride and joy and first love was his family – wife, Inez (Galster), married for 44 years; his son and best friend, Kristian (Michelle) and his daughter, Sarah (Todd), his little girl and a great source of pride.  He adored his granddaughters, Sadie and Avrie.  They always brought a smile to their Papa’s face. Larry will be remembered for his sense of humor, his hard work, his helpful nature and his love for family and friends.  His faith in God never wavered and his reward in heaven will be glorious. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
