Kenneth Wayne Loftin Jr.

Kenneth Wayne Loftin Jr. March 1, 1928 ~ October 11, 2010 Astoria, Oregon Age:  82 Kenneth was born March 1, 1928 in Bandon, Oregon to Kenneth W. Loftin Sr. and Florence G. Coats. He went to school in Coos Bay, Oregon.  In 1949 he enlisted in the Air Force.  He married Elaine Therien and moved to Junction City, Oregon where they had four children.  They later divorced.  Kenneth married Nancy E. Stimson Kankkonen on August 16, 1968 in Warrenton.  Nancy preceded him in death, September 2, 2010.  He was a drafting instructor in the 1960’s and 70’s at Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria.  The couple moved to Stayton, Oregon in 1976 and lived there for 32 years.  In 1977, Kenneth went back to school to earn his Master’s Degree in Education.  He taught in both the Salem school district as well as the Eugene school district.  He then was a Vocational Counselor for the State of Oregon Correctional Institution until his retirement in 1989. His hobbies included golf, woodworking, gardening, and traveling the 89’ers Good Sam Club in their motor home.  He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren.  Kenneth’s family will always remember him as someone who was there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
