Kathleen
Gail Schrag was
born February 2, 1943, in Devils Lake, North Dakota
.
Later that year,
her
family moved from North Dakota to Tacoma, Washington. That is where Kathy grew up.
Kathy
married Howard Rose
on January 14, 1961, at Calvary Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington.
They went to live on his family’s farm in Lebanon, Oregon.
In
1968,
the
y moved their
family to Tacoma
where they lived until 1972, when they r
eturned to Lebanon to
help out with the farm
and take care of Howard’s parents.
Kathy was the quintessential farm wife, canning, cooking, baking, and helping where needed with farm work. She sewed much of her families’ clothes, cut their hair, and decorated their birthday cakes.
She volunteered as Home Ec teacher at her kids’ school. She sewed wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and decorated countless wedding cakes for friends and family.
Kathy
enjoyed
being a mom, and
eventually grandma and great grandma. She loved the Lord, and served at her church, Lebanon Foursquare
, in the nursery, with hospitality, and decorating the sanctuary
.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents , Elmer and Marie (Reimer) Schrag; sisters, Bonn i e Crane, Carole Wegner, and Dianne Sherk ; and by her husband , Howard Rose . She is survived by her children, Grace (Procter) Dixon, John (Bernita) Rose, and Sandra (Butch) Sturdy; her grandchildren, Tyrel (Linda) Rose, Joshua Dixon, Summer (Alex) Parker, and Samuel Dixon; her great grandchildren, Serenity Dixon, Chelsie and Juliet Rose , and Jaxon Parker.
