June Jelen

June was born on January 14, 1942 in Valley Park, Missouri to Claude and Mae Lucas. At age two her family moved to Oregon where they lived throughout. June would eventually settle in Albany, Oregon where she would raise her family and later in life Lincoln City. In 1995 June began working for Chinook Winds as a casher, even before they had a physical building. She loved the work and interacting daily with customers. June retired in 2011 after a long and wonderful career. Just a few years ago she moved to Turner, Oregon to live with her daughter. June enjoyed being closer to her family and getting to spend quality time with her grandchildren. All of her children and grandchildren’s friends called her “Grandma June” because she became their grandma to them as well due to her loving and caring nature. June was also known as the go-to grandma for candy. She loved it herself and the grandchildren always knew that candy was to be found whenever visiting. Besides work and family, June loved to play cards. Her favorite games were Skip-bo and Uno but Continental was the game she enjoyed the most. June was also enjoyed crocheting and knit scarves, watch westerns and Harry Potter. On December 8, 2018 June passed away at age 76 surrounded by the love of her family. She was in preceded in death by her mother father and sisters, Claudia and Gloria. She is survived by her daughter, Sandie (Mike); grandchildren, Joel (Mandy), Jodie (David), Jamie (Jose); great grandchildren Avery, Alex, Tyler, JR, Jackson, Amelia and Keaton.
