Judith Kay Allen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 24, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories. She was born on June 10, 1940, in Waverly, Iowa, to the proud parents Erna W. (Kammeyer) and Fred A. Leisinger.
After completing high school and earning her GED, Judith embarked on a journey of education and service. She pursued her passion for nursing, attending Community College in Riverside, California, where she obtained her nursing degree. On April 25, 1956, Judith married the love of her life, Raymond Shooby Allen, in Corona, California. Their union was blessed with four children: Debbie, Randy, Diana, and Doreen.
Judith's life took her from California to Oregon, where she and Raymond settled on their homestead in Scio. She dedicated 18 years of service to Albany General Hospital, where she was known for her fairness, particularly in the nursing scheduling department. Outside of work, Judith discovered a love for horses and volunteered with the Scio Buckaroos. She fulfilled her dream of riding her own horse in the parade alongside her beloved Star and cherished horses Jake, Judy, and Jack.
A woman of many talents and passions, Judith embraced the homesteading lifestyle, cultivating organic vegetables, and sharing her knowledge with her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading voraciously until her eyesight began to fail, entertained family and friends with warmth and hospitality, engaged in political discussions on rhetoric, and was a proud member of the NRA.
The passing of her beloved Raymond on June 16, 2021, left Judith heartbroken, but she continued to live on their cherished homestead, surrounded by the memories they had created together. Her devotion to her family remained unwavering, and she found solace in their love and support.
Judith is survived by her children, Debbie Freitag, Randy Allen, Diana Cox, and Doreen Boyd; grandchildren, Gary Allen Freitag, Becca Wright, Emily Cox, Rollie Brawley, Ethan Cox, Jesse Cox, Julie Summers, and Lola Childress; 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to honor Judith's life will be held on April 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Franklin Butte Cemetery in Scio, Oregon. It will serve as a celebration of Judith and Raymond's anniversary, reuniting them once more in heaven. May Judith's memory continue to inspire and bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
