Judith Gertrude Nagle was born January 6, 1945, in Shenandoah, Iowa. She married Charles Phillip Nagle in 1962 and they had two sons together, settling in Charlestown, West Virginia. When the marriage ended in divorce, Judith became a single mom in a time when that was an uncommon occurrence. Although times were tough and she had to work hard to support her sons, Judith was tenacious and fiercely independent, which allowed her to persevere under considerable odds. To support her family, Judy worked at Dixie-Narco in Ranson, West Virginia until the factory was relocated. She then began working in health care as a CNA. She retired from Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in 2009. Judy was a true caregiver and loved taking care of her patients, particularly patients in hospice care. Judith remained in West Virginia until 2000 when she moved to California to be near her son Greg and his family. When Greg relocated to Oregon, Judith followed him in 2018, settling in the Willamette Valley. She loved her kids and grandkids and enjoyed taking care of them. Judith loved to bake and was famous for her legendary chocolate cake. Gardening was a passion of hers and she grew many beautiful flowers, especially roses. The time spent with family created priceless memories as Judith was able to share her words of wisdom, skills in the kitchen, gardening tips, and family traditions. After battling health issues for years, Judith’s condition worsened in April, and she moved in with Greg’s family where she was lovingly cared for during the final weeks of her life. Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in Albany was a wonderful support system for Judy and the family throughout this difficult time. Judy passed away July 20, 2021, at the age of 76. Judith was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Margretta, and her siblings Ronnie, Richard, LeRoy, and Brenda. She is survived by her sons Gregory (Jennifer) Nagle and Phillip “Michael” Nagle; and her grandchildren Benjamin, Lauren, Nolan, and Aidan. The family will hold a small private service.
