Juanita Viola (Morgan) Culver was born June 20, 1948 on Father’s Day in Salem, Oregon to Clyde and Colleen (Bates) Morgan. She died on August 26, 2021 after a 23 year battle with breast cancer. Juanita grew up in Mill City, Oregon, graduating from Santiam High School with 41 classmates, 21 started first grade together.  She enrolled in Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in September 1966 and graduated in September 1969 with her nursing license. She worked at Good Samaritan Hospital (Portland), Santiam Hospital (Stayton), and Lebanon Community Hospital (Lebanon) during her 46 year nursing career. In 1969, she met her husband Robert Culver and they were married on October 24, 1970. They had a daughter, Xann-Marie Culver, in January 1973. Robert preceded her in death on August 2, 2019. She is survived by her daughter (and Arthur Porter) and granddaughter, Jillian Porter. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Morgan. Juanita dearly loved going on medical mission trips. She went to Nicaragua (x2), Bolivia (x6), Mexico (x2), Haiti (x3), and Vietnam (x1). Santiam Canyon and family history were of long-time interest to her. She was an avid knitter making countless baby blankets, sweaters, slippers, and other handcrafts. Even though she tried to live her life by the old pearls of wisdom, she said she failed many, many times but never stopped trying. Two favorites are: Do unto others what you want done to you; and, You were given two arms, two legs, two eyes, and two ears, but only one mouth – use it wisely. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
