Joyce Marie Stachler was born December 1, 1956 in Newport Beach, California to Perry and Norma Tomlin. Growing up in California, Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, relaxing outside in the beautiful California weather. Joyce always had a very giving and helpful nature to her, so naturally she found her calling in the medical field. She worked for the State of California as a psychiatric nurse for many years and ultimately thrived in that environment. When she left that job, she moved to Salem, Oregon to be closer to her daughter and three grandkids. Joyce had four children: Robin Lindsey, Shivon Lindsey, Garett Stachler, and Courtney Stachler. She also had five grandchildren: Madison Lindsey, Jaxon Lindsey, Kalob Ball, Kyle Ball, and Kodi Ball. Joyce loved living in Oregon and being close to her family. Although the weather was not conducive for her health, due to many preexisting health issues, she wouldn’t have changed it for the world. Joyce enjoyed going out with her friends and heading to the coast, out to gamble, and have brunch. She also really liked going with her close friends to find bargain deals at Goodwill and then going to lunch to celebrate their finds. While in Oregon, Joyce was able to use her empathy and compassion to start volunteering for Project ABLE, where she stayed active in volunteering until her passing. On August 14, 2021 Joyce Marie Stachler passed away at home with her family. Joyce touched and enriched so many people’s lives that she will be missed deeply. People may remember her for her nurturing spirit or for her eclectic taste in music, which ranges from classic rock to country to spiritual, but whatever people may remember her for there is one thing that remains consistent and that is how much she meant to those who knew her.Joyce was preceded in death by her parents: Perry and Norma Tomlin, and siblings: Dennis Tomlin, Rose Williams, and Linda Walton. Joyce’s good friend Cindy recommended a song called “Dancing in the Sky,” that explains exactly what her family is hoping Joyce is doing right now. “I hope you’re dancing in the sky, And I hope you’re singing in the angels’ choir, And I hope the angels know what they have, I’ll bet it’s so nice up in heaven since you’ve arrived.” Joyce’s family says, “We love you, and will always miss you. You are the best.”
