Joseph Scott Fritts, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away on March 28th, 2025. Born on December 22, 1931, in Grass Valley, Oregon, to Edna Genevieve Schadewitz and Joseph Shelton Fritts, Scott’s life was a testament to God’s unwavering love and grace.

After graduating from high school in Moro, Oregon in 1950, Scott studied at Multnomah School of the Bible, graduating in 1953. He continued his studies at Oregon State College, earning a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering in 1957, and later completed a B.S. in Education from Eastern Oregon College in 1962. Additionally, Scott served his country honorably as a radar operator in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960.

On August 31, 1968, Scott married the love of his life, Betty Jean Baker, with whom he shared a deeply rooted devotion to God and family. Through 50 years of marriage, together they built a legacy of love and faith that has built a heritage for their loved ones. Scott found his calling as an educator, teaching in both public and private schools where his commitment to education left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students. In 1984, he founded Scott Fritts Construction. Through his business, he diligently served the Linn County community until his well-earned retirement in 2011, at the remarkable age of 80.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Joseph, his cherished wife, Betty Jean, and his siblings, Vivian Lucille (Fritts) Todd, Louis "Bud" Shelton Fritts, Edwin Robert Fritts, and Doran Fritts. He leaves behind his son, Alan Scott Fritts of Ohio, and his treasured grandchildren: Gregory Wade Fritts, Zachary Scott Fritts, Bethany Nicole Fritts, and Timothy Wendell Fritts.

Scott’s life exemplified hard work and caring for others more than himself. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love of Jesus that he shared with family and friends.
