Jon Ash Verley was born on February 19, 1947 in Lakeview, Oregon to Orvel Alven Verley and Mary Louise Clark. He was the youngest of four children. The family moved to Scio, Oregon where he would attend school before going into the United States Army.
After being discharged from the Army, Jon would eventually go to work for the railroad. He worked on the railroad buildings and bridges crew and achieved the title of supervisor. He was greatly respected for his experience building bridges and was known for his smile and hard work ethic. Working for the railroad was a dream come true for Jon as it allowed him to travel. Jon loved to travel and spent most of his life on the open road. He would travel for work and personal vacation but it brought him the most joy traveling to see family and friends. Next to being with family and making friends, Jon's greatest passions were fishing, mining and old cars.
On March 31, 2022 Jon passed away in Albany, Oregon surrounded by family. He was preceded in passing by his father Orvel; brother Tony, son, Mike; and step-daughter Suzy.
