A Tribute to Johnny D. Wolford

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we honor the life of Johnny D. Wolford, a man of steadfast devotion, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. Born on January 28, 1941, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Johnny F. Wolford and Leona Mead, Johnny’s journey through life was one marked by dedication, hard work, and kindness.

Johnny was a man who found joy in the simple but meaningful things in life. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, and a friend—each role he embraced with warmth and generosity. On October 10, 1987, he married Barbara D. Krosman in Stayton, Oregon, a union that not only brought him love but also a beautiful extended family. He was a devoted stepfather to Angelina Halseth and Norman Hice, and though he experienced the deep sorrow of losing Brian Rendon, he carried his love for him always. His heart expanded with pride and joy for his grandchildren: Julia Young, Shayla Lackner, Casey Meek, Meria Rendon, Norman Cross, Taylor Littlewolf, Lilly Ruggles, Hope Bailey, and Garrett Hice; newphews, Audie (Beatrice) Perez, Donald Perez and niece, Donna Ward.

Johnny was a man who built a life with his hands—both in his career and at home. As a grader in the lumber industry with Young and Morgan, he took great pride in his work. His dedication extended beyond his profession to the home he lovingly maintained, the gardens he nurtured, and the many projects he took on with patience and skill. Whether it was fixing something around the house, tending to his garden, or cooking a meal for his loved ones, Johnny found joy in creating and giving. He had a special love for dogs, whose companionship brought him endless comfort and happiness.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Johnny served his country with honor. His dedication earned him a marksman award for his rifle skills and a good conduct medal, reflecting the discipline and integrity that would define his character throughout his life. He continued his commitment to his fellow servicemen as a proud member of the American Legion.

For over 30 years, Johnny called Mill City, Oregon, home. Before that, he lived in Northern California, shaping his life around hard work, community, and family. He is survived by his two loving sisters, Barbara Faulk and Shirley Russell, while he now joins another sister, Nancy Wolford in eternal rest.

On January 26, 2025, Johnny left this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet devotion. He was honored with private military services and laid to rest at Fox Valley Cemetery in Lyons, Oregon—a peaceful place for a man who lived his life with steady hands and a loving heart.

Johnny’s memory will forever live on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the warmth of home-cooked meals, the beauty of a well-tended garden, and the unwavering love of his family. Though he is gone, his presence will always be felt in the lives he touched.
