John Arthur Lowrie was born January 12, 1956, in Oregon City, Oregon, to Walter and Betty (Hunter) Lowrie. John grew up in Aurora on the 9-acre family farm where his family owned a butcher business. John stayed in the area living in Canby. Aurora, and Woodburn.After graduating from Canby High School, John studied English and Journalism at Western Oregon University where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. John married Patricia Richards, but they were later divorced. John did not have any of his own children, but was very special to his nieces and nephews.Much of John’s working life was at Tektronix as a test technician. In later years, he worked at a Woodburn pawn shop and dealt with antiques, collectibles, and rare and used books. He was a writer of fiction and poetry, completing his own novel.Music, books, reading, writing, photography, wildlife, and the outdoors were the things that brought John the most happiness, as well as his loved canine companion, Mick. Among his favorite musicians were John Lennon, Linda Ronstadt, and John Denver. He loved the Oregon Coast, camping at Clear Lake on Mt. Hood, and hunting with his brother, Jerry. He was interested in Native American culture and history, particularly Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce. He had a special love for birds of prey; eagles, hawks, and falcons.John passed away on December 8th, 2021, at age 65 in Silverton. John is preceded in death by his Mother Betty Lou Lowrie and Father Walter N. Lowrie. John is survived by brothers James Lowrie (Marcia) of Redmond, Mike Lowrie (Kris) of Silverton, Jerry Lowrie (Barbara) of Battleground, Washington, Tom Lowrie of Boring, and sister Annette Scacco (Lance) of Omak, Washington.John is “Finally Soaring Like an Eagle.”
