Jerry Wayne Wooten was born on July 12, 1946 in El Centro, California to Roy and Viola (Wilson) Wooten. He grew up in Tulelake California and graduated from Tulelake High School. In his late 20’s Jerry would move to Klamath Falls, Oregon where he would go back to school and graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon. After graduating, Jerry would move to Sugar Land, Texas after receiving a job offer. This is where he would stay for about 9 years before moving to Stayton, Oregon where he would reside for the rest of his life. Jerry worked for many years as a truck driver. Early on, he worked for a few different companies but eventually he purchased his own truck and went into business for himself. Jerry loved his family very much and would involve them constantly in his activities. When he was on the road, he would often bring one of his children along to experience the sights and adventures that came along with long-haul trucking. In his spare time, Jerry was active in Boy Scouts of America. He served as a committee member and then as Scout Master. He also loved playing bingo and became a regular at the local bingo hall. It was often joked that he had his own bingo family on top of his own. On January 18th, 2020 Jerry passed away in Stayton, Oregon. He is survived by his children, Edward Wooten, Sheila Pike, Glen Langford Jr. Randee Rae, Mindy Morris and Kayla Elkins; Brothers, Clifford Wooten and Troy Wooten and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
