Jeanne Carla Knight, born on November 10, 1940, in San Diego, California to Raymond Larson and Gertrude Fredrickson. Jeanne passed away on March 22, 2024, in Salem, Oregon. She was united in marriage with Raymond Knight in Toppenish, Washington on December 15, 1969. They were blessed with four children, Jay, Richard, Julie and Dan. They raised their family in Washington but the last 40 years of her life, resided in Stayton/Sublimity. Raymond would proceed her in death on November 27, 1986.
Jeanne found immense joy in cooking, dedicating her time to feed the homeless and those in need. Baking cookies for family, friends, and the less fortunate was her heartfelt gesture. She professionally cooked for over 25 years working at places such as Santiam Memorial Hospital and Marian Estates Elliot Residence. She loved cooking so much, that when asked if she missed it, Jeanne replied, “I’m thinking about making an angel food cake”.
Beyond her cooking, Jeanne had an insatiable appetite for treasure hunting at garage sales. Armed with an eye for the extraordinary and a knack for uncovering hidden gems, she turned each expedition into an adventure, discovering forgotten treasures waiting to be rescued from obscurity. Among her many passions, Jeanne held a special affection for collecting old glass, particularly the delicate beauty of Depression glass. But beyond her interests and hobbies, Jeanne will be remembered most for their warmth, kindness, and generosity. She possessed a gentle spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love and light that will endure long after her passing.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; children, Jay Champion, Julie Champion, Richard Champion; grandson, Jake Champion. She is survived by her sons, Dan M. Champion; grandchildren, Ashley Champion, Joshua Ruggles, and Carla Champion; siblings, Phillip Larson, Bonnie Depaz, and Donna Chadden.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton, Oregon.
