Janice Marie Lowry July 11, 1950 May 10, 2016 Jefferson, Oregon Janice M. Lowry, 65, long time resident of Scio, Oregon passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 of natural causes. She was born July 11, 1950 in Lebanon, Oregon to Adrian (Ed) and Julia Horinek. Janice graduated from Scio High School in 1968. After graduating beauty college, she opened and operated Hair Mates Beauty Salon in Scio. She was an active member of the Scio community having served on the City Council, coached a winning softball team and a trained firefighter. Janice was a past member of the Scio Baptist Church and a current active member of the Jefferson Baptist Church. Janice was a loving, caring person. She opened her home many times to family and friends in times of need. Janice loved flowers and enjoyed working outdoors in her beautiful yard. She was a great cook, a wood carver, a seamstress and a grandmother of three. Janice is survived by her sister, Karyle (Dale) Payne of Stayton, Oregon; son, Jerred (KayDee) Parker of Scio, Oregon; and grandchildren, Emily, Melanie, and Trent Parker of Scio, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian Horinek (2005), Julia Horinek (2011), and brother Adrian (Bubby) Horinek (1969) all of Scio. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00pm at Jefferson Baptist Church, 15002 Jefferson Highway 99E. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services.
