Janet Rauch

February 11, 1956 — April 3, 2024

Janet Rauch, born on February 11, 1956, in Sacramento, California, to Eva and Murray Leighton, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at the age of 68. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, dear sister, and beloved friend.

Janet married the love of her life, Jim Rauch, on November 28, 1984, in a beautiful ceremony in Cour D'Alene, Idaho. Together, they shared a bond that was evident to all who knew them.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Rauch, her children Christopher Perrenoud (Amber), Matthew Rauch (Noeun), and Jamee Rauch, her sibling Murray Leighton, as well as her adored grandchildren Ann Elise Perrenoud, Christopher Perrenoud, Alexus Perrenoud, and Parker Rauch. Janet was also blessed with great-grandchildren Porter and Paxton.

Janet dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Dental Hygienist. Her gentle touch and warm demeanor left a lasting impression on her patients and colleagues alike.

In her leisure time, Janet found joy in crafting, playing bingo, and listening to the music of the 70s and 80s. She was also an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren's sports activities, always cheering them on from the sidelines with pride and enthusiasm.

Despite facing adversity, Janet's resilience and strength were unwavering. She returned to college in her late thirties, earning her B.S. in dental hygiene from OHSU while balancing the demands of raising her children and supporting her husband, who was frequently away at sea.

In 1999, Janet was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a battle she fought with courage. In 2004 her symptoms forced her to retire. She remained cheerful throughout the years of progression of the cruel disease. Janet was loved by everyone who knew her, and she equally loved in return. Her children feel blessed to have Janet as a mother.

Janet is preceded in death by her mother Eva Leighton, her father Murray Leighton, and her sister Debey Leighton.
