James Michael Haddock, born on December 6, 1951, in San Diego, California, passed away on October 8, 2024. He was the beloved son of Allene McLeod and Charles Haddock. James grew up in San Diego, where he attended St. Augustine High School and graduated in 1969. His passion for electronics led him to earn an associate’s degree in Electronics Technology from San Diego Community Colleges in 1972.
In 1973, James married Patricia Hedy Goossens in a beautiful ceremony in San Diego. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. James was a committed father and husband. Their union blessed them with two wonderful children: Kimberly Snyder and Wendy Haddock and two granddaughters, Sedona Cariaga and Courtney Steele.
After relocating to Veneta, Oregon, James and Patricia embarked on an exciting venture. They opened Yurtel, a unique establishment that hosted guests in themed yurts. Their warm hospitality and creative vision made Yurtel a cherished place for travelers seeking a memorable experience.
James was deeply committed to his faith and an active member of St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church. He served as the church treasurer, dedicating his time and talents to support the community. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many parishioners.
Beyond his professional and spiritual pursuits, James had a zest for life. He loved sports, especially volleyball and basketball. Whether cheering for the Padres or the Chargers, he was a passionate fan.
James was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his mother, Allene, and his brother, Thomas. James Michael Haddock will be remembered for his warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for family and friends. May his spirit continue to inspire us all.
