With saddened hearts we announce the death of our very loved James “Papa” Bradley Sr, 90 years old of Turner, Oregon. He passed away peacefully at home on May 18th, 2024.
He was born on August 11th, 1933 in Nashville, Tennessee to Frank Ewing Bradley and Era Katherine Massey. He married the love of his life Zona Lou Hollingsworth Bradley of Lawton, Oklahoma on July 28th, 1954. They were married for 58 years. He worked as a custodian at Cascade High School in Turner Oregon where he retired in 1994 after 26 years. He was loved by many he worked with and associated with including the students. He enjoyed working in his yard, camping trips with his family to Thousand Trails and sharing the "good word" around the firepit. James was a pillar of strength for his loved ones. His kindness knew no bounds, he never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His witty quips and warm smile brightened the lives of those around him. He was always ready for a great conversation and you knew you were in for a good talk when you heard “what’s the good word” or “hot off the press”. James Bradley’s legacy lives on through the memories shared by family and friends. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished. We have never known anyone as unconditionally loving and generous. His unwavering love for his family and his willingness to help others defined his life.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Zona Lou Hollingsworth Bradley, son Kenneth Bradley and daughter Barbara Bradley Becker.
Survived by his daughter Janice & son-in-law Roy Harbour of Penryn, California, son James Bradley Jr of Salem, Oregon, son-in-law Henry Becker Jr of Turner, Oregon. James was blessed with 9 grandchildren, each bringing joy and laughter to his days. The next generation of Bradleys included 26 great-grandchildren, who continued to fill his heart with love and happiness. And beyond that, the littlest members of the family, the 6 great-great-grandchildren, and twins on the way which he learned of just before passing, brought smiles to his face and warmth to his soul.
