James David Roachelle

James "Oscar" David Roachelle, born on December 28, 1931, in McLean, Texas, to Ida Woodrome and Rev. George Roachelle, passed away on July 20th, 2024. After graduating high school, James joined the Navy, where he earned the Korean Medal, the United Nations Medal, and the National Defense Medal for his dedicated service.

On May 15, 1982, James married Ellen Zakaria in Fullerton, California, marking the beginning of a loving partnership. He had a passion for working with glass and mirrors, creating custom glass products that reflected his artistic talent and dedication. Some of his products were even designed for Hollywood stars.

James was known for his joyful spirit and generosity, especially during the Christmas season when he played Santa Claus for Nancy Harmon Ministries and other organizations. His sense of humor and constant smile brought light to those around him, even in challenging times.

James is survived by his wife, Ellen Roachelle; children, Larry Roachelle, James Roachelle, and Laura Quiroga, and his beloved grandchildren, Misty Bell, Angela Atkins, Liam Roachelle, Krista, Michael, Matthew, Ada, Reynaldo, Daisy, Joshua and Grace and his brother, Glen Roachelle. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Faye Loflin, Zona Huff, Opal Dail, Cecil Roachelle, Curt Roachelle, Dot Lynch, and both of his parents.

James will be remembered for his kindness, creativity, and the joy he brought to his family and community. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those who knew him.
