Jack Ross Schilling March 22, 1925 – Oct. 22, 2010 Jack R. Schilling was born in Pawnee, Nebraska , the son of Tolbert and Delilah Schilling on March 22, 1925. He passed away on Oct. 22nd at the age of 85 in Salem, Oregon. He was married to Vivian Gregersen, they later separated. He married Wanda “Chris” Toombs in 1969 and she preceded him in death in 2005. He married Carlene Dodson on July 12, 2006 in Reno, Nevada. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanical engineer at military bases in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Germany and California before retiring as a Master Sgt. after 20 years of service during the Korean and Vietnam Eras. He then worked with the Civil Service for 10 years before retiring a second time. He chose Oregon as his home 32 year ago, having lived many years in Mill City before moving to Salem. He enjoyed building things and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Carlene of Salem; son, Gary Schilling of Arizona; daughter, Jacqueline Nice of Port Orchard, WA; step-children, Chuck Lesche , Nancy Lesche, Alice Lesche, Debbie Denhof, Jackie Lesche, Randy Holler, Kevin Holler (dec); brother, Bill of Wisconsin; sisters, Betty Schandroff and Ida Rose Hostrup both of Wisconsin; numerous grand and great grandchildren. Celebration of life will be held Sat. Nov. 6th from 2-4 pm at Meadowlark Park Manor in Salem. Interment with military honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on December 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Portland. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
