Jack Eugene Pennington was born on January 1, 1929 in Garden City, Kansas to Glenn (Lyburger) and Hattie (Moody) Pennington. The Family moved to Oregon when Jack was young and lived in the Aumsville/ Turner area, where he would go on to graduate from high school. After high school, Jack would enlist in the Army National Guard. He would serve a short time before being honorably discharged. A few years after high school, Jack would meet Alice Fitting on a blind date. The two would marry on March 18, 1950 in Renton, Washington and would soon welcome the birth of four children: Martha, Darlene, Joyce and Jonathan. Jack was a farmer and did mill work early on in his life until he started the family woodworking business. He created wood owls and other animals that the family would sell. In his spare time Jack enjoyed crafts and working on projects with his wife Alice. He enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, sewing and making jewelry in his younger years. He also enjoyed rock hounding and hunting for mushrooms. On February 13, 2021 Jack passed away in Lincoln City, Oregon. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Glenn and Hattie, sisters, Arvilla Jennings and Ruby Boswell; and brothers Gale and Paul Pennington. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Alice; Children, Martha Copeland, Darlene Bond, Joyce Pennington and Jonathan Pennington; grandchildren, Galloway Copeland, Victor Copeland, Jamie Bates, Anthony Bond, Lydia Castro, Jonathan J.E. Leimbach, Jenna Leimbach, Jordan Leimbach, Denae Pennington, Dacotah Pennington, Kaydin Pennington and Xavier Pennington; and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will take place on February 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, Oregon. A private inurnment will take place at Fox Valley Cemetery in Lyons, Oregon.
