“Smitty” Iven Smith was born on April 20, 1932 in Portland, Oregon to Ben and Florence (Sorrels) Smith. He passed away surrounded by family on February 22, 2018 at his home in Mill City, Oregon after a long illness at the age of 85. Smitty honorably served his country during the Korean War. Upon getting out of the service, Smitty worked many jobs that included building or working on engines. He even built the very home he lived in. Smitty enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and even took an 18,000 mile trip on it through North America. After he met his wife, Nannette they would go riding together. Smitty also enjoyed camping, fishing and going for rides in the country or cruising the gut in his 1969 Dotson Roadster convertible. For many years during spring vacation, He, Nannette and their children would go camping in the mountains. Smitty was predeceased by his son Bart and is survived by his wife Nannette; children, Greg Smith, Rusty Smith and Penny Terry; step children, Wendy Schroeder and Scott Sitsler in addition to 14 grandchildren. The family plans for private services at Wilderville Cemetery in Grants Pass, Oregon at a later date.
