Irwin Waldo Geer Jr

Irwin Waldo Geer Jr was born October 8, 1931, in Burns, Oregon, to Irwin Waldo and Inez (Jones) Geer Sr. Work was hard to find during the Great Depression, especially in small town rural Oregon, so when Irwin was three years old, the family moved to the Willamette Valley in search of opportunity. The extended Waldo family had settled the Waldo Hills are near Silverton, Oregon, in 1847, so there was some family in the area when they arrived. Irwin graduated from high school in Salem then went to work as a long haul truck driver. He married Janet Dimick and they started a family, raising a son and daughter together.  Irwin passed away in Albany, Oregon, on September 15, 2021, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents Irwin Sr and Inez; his wife of 45 years, Janet; and his daughter Liane who passed away at the age of 27. Irwin is survived by his son Joseph of Idanha; 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren of Portland; and life-long best friend Chuck Bengston.
