Irvin Lane Hersha Sr., born on May 29, 1936, in Salem, Oregon, peacefully departed this world on March 16, 2024. He was the beloved child of Caroline A. Davidson and Frank Lee Hersha.
On June 11, 1955, Irvin exchanged vows with his cherished wife, Loretta Sue Williams, in a heartfelt ceremony held in Reno, Nevada. Their union was blessed with love and companionship that lasted a lifetime.
Irvin dedicated 35 years of his life as the head operator of the Wheatland ferry, ensuring safe passage across the water. His commitment and diligence left an indelible mark on the community.
Before his retirement, Irvin served honorably in the United States Air Force, contributing to the nation’s defense. His unwavering loyalty and sacrifice exemplified the spirit of service.
As the years unfolded, Irvin reveled in the joys of family. Irvin is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Sue Williams, his children, Denise, Dennis, Diana, and Irvin Jr., his grandchildren, Robert, Linda, Donald, Mandy, Christopher, Daniel, Adam, Dana, Danielle, Irvin III, Steven, Jodi, Chelsey, and Blair, as well as 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. His siblings, Eldon and Carol Jean also carry his memory forward.
Irvin was preceded in death by his brother, Frank. His memory will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
