In Memory of Hattie B. Fencl December 25, 1918 – February 10, 2010 Sublimity, Oregon Hattie was born in Willow River, Minnesota to Charles and Julia Kazda. She was the youngest of four daughters. They moved to Mill City, Oregon in 1920. She graduated from Mill City High School in 1939. She married Joseph Fencl on Jan 11th, 1940. In 1943 they moved to Nehalem, Oregon and managed a dairy farm until they moved back to Mill City and took over the family farm in 1946. She remained in Mill City until 2004. She was a member of the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association. She was a member of the Rebekahs and Garden Club. She enjoyed playing pinochle, cross word puzzle and the holiday seasons with family gatherings and homemade Bohemian desserts. Every year she looked forward to earning extra money picking beans. She was preceded in death by her son Jim, husband Joe and three sisters Jenny Kazda, Frances Dolezal and Anne Gunsaules. She is survived by her sons Tom (wife Phyllis) and Toby, all of Mill City, two grandchildren, Jody Scott (husband Tim) of Cypress CA and Kevin Fencl (wife Angie) of Gates and four great grandchildren, Hannah and Zachary Fencl, Nathaniel and Kylie Scott and 3 great step grandchildren, Hillary, Allison and Grant Allbritton. A celebration of life service will be held 3:00 Saturday, 2-13 at Gates Community Church 40070 Gates School Rd. Family and friends are invited to stay for food and fellowship following the service. In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting donation be sent to the North Santiam Historical Society or Mill City Fire Department. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, Oregon.
