Hugh G. Hampton

Born on August 20, 1937, Hugh, the 5th child of Warner and Bessie Hampton born in Rose Lodge, Oregon on their Cougar Mountain homestead passed away March 29th at the age of 84 at his home surrounded by his family. He moved with his family to Gates, Oregon where he attended school.  As a young adult Hugh logged with his father and three brothers and became a Christmas tree farmer until his passing.  He often had multiple jobs simultaneously to support his family including, entrepreneur, businessman, salesman, equipment operator for IBEW electrical union, and a country western store owner with his wife, Anita. He enjoyed spending time with his family, was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, bowling, wood sculpturing and cards with his golfing partners, but mostly his Christmas trees. Hugh also instilled in his children the value and importance of family along with a very strong work ethic, which stills proves true to today. Hugh traveled to Quito, Ecuador with his family during the Truman Fair Trade era with foreign countries where he met his first wife Alyce Habis with whom he had his four children. Hugh passed away on March 29, 2022 at age 84. Hugh is survived by his wife Anita; son, Christopher Hampton (Melanie); daughter, Sandra Yribe (Leo); daughter, Angelina Hiedel (Joel);son,  Michael Hampton(Brenda), stepson Mike Wright; stepdaughter, Wendy Ross (Jeff); grandson, Joshua Bartels(Mackenzie); granddaughters, Elizabeth and Lauren Hampton; several great great grandchildren; brother, Herbert Hampton; sisters, Jeannie Savage and Judy McCormick, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Bessie Hampton; brothers, Lewis and Rex; sisters, June Whitney and Coral Landry. Viewing will be held from 12pm-2pm, with a service to follow at 2pm at Weddle Funeral Home, 1777 N 3rd Ave. Stayton, Oregon with a reception to follow on Saturday April 9, 2022.
