Helen Marie Chiles

Helen Marie Chiles  May 6, 1921 March 22, 2017 Salem, Oregon Helen was born in Huron, South Dakota to Hugh and Louise Peterson. She married John Chiles on April 21, 1943. Helen worked at Castle & Cook Cannery. They lived in Salem for a time and moved to Lincoln City after retirement. Both John and Helen were members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles while living in Lincoln City. Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem. She most recently resided at Woodland Regency Assisted Living Center. Helen was preceded in death by her husband in 1985, stepdaughter Gwendolyn in 1986, brother Urban in 1988, sisters Lois in 1992 and Hazel in 2003, and nephew Wayne in 2014. She is survived by her great-grandson Scott Moone; sister-in-law Maxine Allen of Salem; nieces Myrna Watson and Clarice Stewart of Salem; nephews Steve Willard of Pilot Rock, Tom Willard of Mill City, Merlyn Debear of Long Beach, California, and Jerry Rempel of Salem. Memorial contributions to Teen Challenge in Salem. A graveside service was held on Monday, March 27 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens followed by a potluck at the home of Jerry Rempel.
