H.D. Doug Denson June 5, 1942 Feb. 25, 2010 Born in Hawthorne, California.  He grew up in Montebello and graduated from Montebello high school.  He then attended Cal State in LA and received his superintendant degree. Doug was married to Shirley Muir on June 20, 1964 in Montebello and they lived in Monterey Park where he taught school.  They moved to Oregon in 1965 having lived in St. Paul.  He attended Portland State and the University of Oregon having received his masters degree in education.  They moved to Aumsville in 1968 before moving to Sublimity in 1975.  He taught at St. Paul and also coached 8th grade basketball as well as West Stayton and Sublimity.  Having a career as Superintendant/Principal  and athletic coach for Sublimity nearly 20 yrs. before retiring in 1988.  He was a member of the Umpire Referee Association and enjoyed attending all sporting events. After retirement, he became a real estate broker for Denson Realty in Sublimity. He had served 2 terms as Sublimity Mayor, 2 terms on the North Santiam School board, 2 terms on the Planning Commission and was very involved with the Republican Political Committee. He was an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Aumsville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on vintage cars and spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley of Sublimity; daughters, Kathleen Denson of Stayton, Donna (Jeff) Schnepp of Turner; and 4 grandchildren, Josh, Shane, Jenna & Isaac. Visitation will be Fri. March 5th from 1 7 pm at Weddle Funeral Chapel, Stayton, OR, Interment will be private. The public is welcome to the Celebration of life held Sat. March 6th at 11:00 AM at the Bethel Baptist Church in Aumsville.
