August 15, 1922 – March 18, 2011 Harold was born in Portland, Oregon on the 15th day of August, 1922.   He passed away at the age of 88 on Friday the 18th  of March in Sublimity.  The son of Clarence and Mary Batchelor,  Harold grew up in Sherwood and attended  Middleton Grade and  Sherwood High Schools. He joined the US Army and served during  WWII, in the Philippines and Guatemala.  After the war he worked as a warehouseman on Swan Island for Sears and Roebuck , working for 35 years before retiring.  He then  moved to Bend and to Jerome, Idaho before moving to Salem in 1998.  He was married to Nola Smith for 17 yrs, then to Diane, she preceded him in death.  He married Sylvia Gray and she also preceded him in death.  He enjoyed motorcycles, boating, water skiing, hiking, bicycling, going on trips by car or train, and joined the Miniature Train Association in Salem.  He enjoyed tinkering and spending time with his pal, “Rusty” and “Buddy” his dogs. He was also preceded in death by his son, Harold Bruce. He is survived by his son, Kim (Andrea) Batchelor;  grandchildren, John, Daniel, Tanya and Michelle and great granddaughter, Tiffany Wagner. Visitation will be held on Tues. March 22nd from 9 A.M. – 5 P.M. with a reception from 1 4 P.M. at Weddle Funeral Chapel, Stayton, OR. Private family service with military honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services Stayton, OR.
