Harold "Dean" Roberts

Harold “Dean” Roberts was born on January 15, 1934 in Wicks, Arkansas to Wayne Roberts Sr. and Lillian McCauley. In 1951, Harold joined the US Navy and served until he was honorably discharged in 1954. After the military, he moved to Oregon and worked for a short time as a police officer in Cottage Grove, Oregon. He married Juanita Ruth Stulken while in Cottage Grove and they lived there until 1965 when the family moved to Reedsport, Oregon. Dean began working for the lumber industry which he would work for most of his life. He went to work for Bohemia Lumber Company until he retired as Logging Superintendent which he was very proud of. After his wife passed in 2000, Dean moved to Stayton and lived there until his passing. He would consistently be seen eating at the Country Kitchen in Lyons, or out in front of his daughter’s house making sure that the yard was kept up. He enjoyed yard work and gardening after retiring. On January 1, 2019 Dean passed away in Stayton, Oregon surrounded by family. He was preceded in passing by his loving wife Juanita, his parents Wayne and Lillian, several brothers and sisters, and grandchild Justin. He is survived by his siblings, Charles, Maydell, Lilie, Margaret and John; his children, Pauline, Deanna and Wayne; Grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Franklin, Dwayne, Eric, Andraya, Karissa, Jeremy, Michael, Ashley, Melissa and Tiffany; several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A graveside service will be held on February 2nd, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Fir Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Afterwards a Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks Lodge in Cottage Grove at 2:00 PM.
