Gigi Phelps

A service will be held for Gigi Phelps at 2pm on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Weddle Funeral Service. Gigi passed away on May 18, 2018 at the age of 98 in Stayton, Oregon. Gigi was born on April 7, 1920 in Great Bend, Kansas to Isaac and Grace Brown. Her family moved to Oklahoma to be part of a farming community and after the dust bowl, her family decided to move to California for better opportunities. Gigi married Paul Bass on July 22, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1977. Later on, Mabel married Fred Phelps in 1984 and Fred preceded her in death in 1996. Gigi moved to Oregon in 1964 and lived in Medford, Lincoln City, Stayton, Aumsville and Turner. She eventually moved back down to California and ten years ago moved back to the area. Gigi worked in home health care and volunteered at Birthright. She was a member of New Hope Community Church and helped with prison ministry. Gigi enjoyed puzzles, garage sales, gardening and fishing. Most of all she loved time with her grandchildren and spent time teaching them how to fish and enjoy the outdoors. She will be remembered for her wonderful Thanksgiving dinners and homemade pies. Gigi is survived by her younger sister, Betty; 3 daughters, Annette, Sharon and Cathy; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Weddle Funeral Service entrusted with arrangements.
