George Ely

George Ely, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023, in Oregon. Born on September 30, 1925, in Kansas, George lived a long and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of many with his kindness and warmth.

George was the cherished son of Shirley and Faye Ely. He was a proud Kansas native, but his life journey led him to Oregon, where he spent the majority of his life. He was a graduate of Stayton High School, and lived in Stayton and Salem most of his life.

In his personal life, George was a devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Iris, and together they created a beautiful family. They were blessed with four children: James, Sharon, Donald, and Katherine. George was a loving father who instilled in his children the values of hard work, respect, and kindness. His legacy continues to live on through his nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

After a fulfilling career, George retired and spent his later years in Stayton and Salem, Oregon. His retirement years were filled with joy and contentment, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

George had a lifelong passion for flying model airplanes. This hobby brought him immense joy and his eyes would light up whenever he spoke about his latest model.

In his passing, we remember George Ely as a man of integrity, kindness, and love. His memory will forever be cherished by his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will continue to soar, just like the model airplanes he so loved.
