George Arnold Burleson was born in Emory, Texas, on January 6th, 1936, to Odie and Blanche Burleson. He was the youngest of three with two older sisters. When he was young, his family moved from Texas to Bakersfield, California. After a short time there, they moved to Oregon where they made their home in Jefferson.
While in high school, George met Delores Dunham. George gave Delores his class ring to wear and just after his senior year replaced it with a diamond wedding ring. George and Delores were married on December 29, 1956, at her parents home.
George worked at Cobs Manufacturing, the Jefferson Mink Farm and the original Jefferson Grocery, as well as other odd jobs. He always enjoyed working. He spent most of his career at ATI manufacturing (previously Wah Chang) as a welder and retired in 2000.
George loved spending time with his friends shooting pool at the bar in his younger years. He was always up for an adventure and never shied away from a bet. George never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He had a contagious laugh and loved to tell a good joke.
On January 1st, 2024, five days short of his 88th birthday, George passed away at his home in Jefferson, Oregon, surrounding by his family.
