Gary F. DeVore December 15, 1942 – April 29, 2010 Gary came into this life in Brooklyn, NY. At the age of 4 his family moved to Seattle then to Los Angeles where he was raised until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1960. Gary worked for Lockheed in Burbank, CA. After moving his family to Oregon he worked for Redman Industries then in 1972 he joined the staff at Fairview Training Center in Salem. Gary was one of the very last employees to leave when it closed. In 2003 Gary joined AMVET Post 1776 in Independence, OR. He also joined the Elks Lodge BPOE # 1950 in 2009. Gary was a long time member of Oregon Veterans Motorcycle Association (OVMA) and with his wife rode in several parades, troop escorts, and funeral escorts for Veteran’s with OVMA. Gary was committed to helping Veterans. Gary is survived by his wife of 28 years, Elaine, his sister; Marcia Turner of Columbia, MD , Sons; Gary M. DeVore of Placerville, CA , Donald A. DeVore, of Salem, OR Daughters; Robin R. Lombardo of Lathrop, CA and Marcia Hammerschmith of Salem, OR Stepdaughters; Diana Leatherberry of Las Vegas, NV , Stephanie Warren of Emporia KS. Between Gary and Elaine there are 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Interment with Military Honors will be Monday, May 10, 2010, 1:00 p.m.at Willamette National Cemetery , Portland OR with OVMA, In Country Vets and many other motorcycle friends and comrades escorting Gary from Stayton to his resting place. Following at 4:00 p.m. will be a Celebration of Life at the Elks Lodge in Independence. Arrangements by Weddle Funeral Services.
