Gary E. Jones

Gary E. Jones December 24, 1946 March 25, 2015 Stayton, Oregon Gary was born December 24, 1946 in Oregon City, Oregon. He was the eldest of five children born to Edward A. Jones and Corrinne M. Jones (Engelman). His sister Carla (Gary) Rogers, sister Janice Brooten, brother Pat and sister Kim (Dennis) Kelley. Gary graduated from North Marion high school in 1965. Soon after graduation, he joined the United States Coast Guard where he proudly served in Vietnam aboard the Coast Guard Cutter The Barataria as a Radioman 3rd Class. He was honorably discharged in 1969 and came back to dry land with lifelong friends and many stories that he loved to tell. Gary retired as a Sergeant from the Marion County Sheriffs Office after 26 years serving his community. For nearly 25 years, Gary was also a proud member of the Silverton Elks Lodge 2210. He held almost every office in the lodge and serving as Exalted Ruler twice. He was a District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler for two terms. He was very proud of the work done through the lodge. Gary held several OSEA positions over the years. Gary was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Pat. Gary is survived by wife Andrea, son Jason (Jennifer) 3 grandsons Seth, Brandon and Zachary. Their daughter Tricia (Warren) blessed him with 4 grandchildren, Austin, Ryan, Joshua and Briana Corrinne. Gary loved to spend time with his family. The love and pride he had for his children and grandchildren is unmatched.
