Freida was born on December 21, 1938, in Hazen, North Dakota just a few days prior to Christmas. Her parents, John and Martha Stepper would raise Freida with her 13 siblings, 5 sisters and 8 brothers in total. She would graduate from North Salem High School. Eventually, she would meet John Collier and they would marry on March 3, 1959, in Stevenson, Washington.
John and Freida would build their family home in Turner, Oregon where they would raise their children. They would be blessed with 6 children: Steve, Diane, Donna, Dolores, Patricia, and John.They were married for 56 years. When the kids were young, she would preserve lots of produce for her family and raise animals on their small farm. John and Freida both enjoyed gardening together and would grow vegetables and flowers.
Besides being a busy mom, Freida would work outside the home at the local canneries and Salem mushroom plant. She would also pick apples, strawberries, beans, and cherries. She would work at Fairview training center in the kitchen. She enjoyed serving meals to the residents there. She worked there until her retirement. When not working, she enjoyed spending time at her home. She enjoyed a good laugh with her family and friends. Together she and her husband had participated in a pool league in Turner.
Freida passed away on July 14, 2022, in Salem, Oregon at age 83. She was preceded in death by her husband John, and son, John. She is survived by her children, Steve Collier, Diane Easter, Donna Barrow, Dolores Burson, and Patricia Dumond.; lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
At her request no public services will be held, she will be interred with her husband John at Twin Oaks Cemetery in Turner, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association.
