Freda Betty Hoefer was born on February 3rd, 1926 in Dentin, Montana to Fred and Mary (Crawford) Huff. She was preceded in death by brothers Bill, Bob, Jim, Pat, and Denny, and her sister Arley Rooke. At age 18 she moved to Lebanon, Oregon and worked as a waitress, then at a plywood mill during World War II.
She married Glendon Lamp in 1946 and were graced with three children: Eirleen Lamp, Carol Barham (Randy) and Terry Lamp (Patty). Betty worked on a farm in Jefferson along with working for Fairview Training Center for 23 years.
In 1976 Betty married Vernon Hoefer and gained three step-children and six step-grandchildren. Betty and Vernon were married for 30 years until his death in 2006. She lived at her home in Salem, Oregon until moving to The Springs at Sunnyview in 2015.
Betty enjoyed dancing, fishing, and traveling and was a dedicated member of the Red Hats Society and Oak Park Church. Betty is survived by her children as well as 4 grandchildren: Scott, Cindy, Cory, and Tracy, as well as 8 great-grandchildren: Austin, Keira, Adalyn, Abigail, Delainey, Bryce, Kimber, and Colton.
Betty cherished her family and will be dearly missed. Her love and kindness will always be remembered.
